Logo: Star Trek - formers

Why oh why would any film, especially one steeped in so much of it's own history, choose to make it's logo so similar to the transformers live action movie logo.  I could understand the metallic look, but it should shine more, be more polished, not dirty.  This isn't the future I want, tihs film could make me cry in both happeness and disapointment simultaneously.  Fingers crossed for it.

Trailer: Sleep dealer

Okay, so i'm a bit of a sucker for dystopian sci-fi.  But hell, this looks promising, cant decide whether it's low budget, or even english language.  But then again, who cares when you watch a well thought out, well acted film.  Jurys out on this for now...

Review: Frost Nixon

Frost/Nixon

Is this finally the rebirth of my film reviews, who knows! but here at least is one review to persuade you to return to the cinema.  Frost/Nixon was really good.  Whilst there were no explosions, or cheap jokes that seem to be the requisite for most cinema-fare, this is at time full of heart, emotion, anc compassion, whilst entertaining the viewer with light humour.

The story revolves around (as you may have guessed) the ladies man 'talk-show host' David Frost (Michael Sheen), who is attempting to get back into the American TV industry after an absense by interviewing Richard Nixon (Frank Langella).  This starts off as a wonderful idea, and you imagine Frost in walking in and shockingly obliterating an evil Nixon.  But this is not how it goes, Nixon is portrayed as being confident, and for the most part, arrogant, but ultimately, you see that he is just an old man that has made mistakes.  Whereas Frost comes across as exactly the same, he is very ocnfident about getting the funding, and wont allow others to know the risks.  He also spends a lot of his time out presenting himself, to raise awareness for the interveiw.

Overall, this review itself is a little weak, but I have been out of practice.  The film on the other hand, was strong, and was thankfully the perfect length (which cant be said for all films of this genre).  I was entertained throughout, and felt both happy, and sad come the conclusion, as both characters surprisingly made it into my heart.  This doesn't mean I am now in love with Richard Nixon, but I feel for the fact he finally felt regret, and realised what had been done.
